The outcome of any emergency will depend on your swift response

The St John Education Service provides quality First Aid training for individuals and business here in Papua New Guinea.

We offer a variety of training courses:

- Remote Area First Aid (2-4 days)

Our instructors carry out community first aid training in villages to increase the level of care at home and try and relieve some of the burden from the national health system. This service is free of charge to the participants.

- Emergency First Aid (2 days)

This course is designed for anyone who is keen to know the basic information on how to respond in an emergency. The course includes basic First Aid, CPR, burns, head injuries and emergency childbirth.

The qualification is valid for three years

- Senior First Aid (2 days)

A valid Emergency First Aid certificate is a prerequisite for this course. It goes into greater detail on key subjects and also includes anatomy, haemorrhages, shock and wounds, acute conditions, poison and bites, communicable diseases, hepatitis B, typhoid and dysentery.
The qualification is valid for three years

- Advanced First Aid (3 days)

A valid Senior First Aid certificate is a prerequisite for this course. The course includes: infection control; introduction to advanced resuscitation; Bag & Mask, defibrillator and oxy-viva resuscitation skills; assisting with childbirth; moving and handling patients and procedures at a major incident.
The qualification is valid for three years

- Occupational First Aid (4 days)

A valid certificate in Advanced First Aid is a prerequisite for this course. It includes information on safety at work; management responsibilities; statutory requirements and site health, safety and environment policies. The qualification is valid for three years.

- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (1 day)

This course looks at the basic information relating to CPR. The qualification is valid for one year.

• Advanced Resuscitation & AED (1 day)
• Low voltage Rescue Principles (1 day)
• Top Pole Rescue Principles (1 day)
• First Aid at Sea (Levels 1-3) (each 3 days)

Each participant will receive a training pack, which includes a First Aid book, gloves, and bandages. On completion of all courses, participants will receive a St John First Aid certificate.

We offer refresher courses for Senior and Advanced First Aid and Occupational First Aid.
