Emergency Communications Centre

The St John Emergency Communications Centre operates 24 hours, seven days a week and has over 20 staff.

The centre handles the emergency 111 calls from all over PNG for Police, Fire and Ambulance. The centre handles over 1000 calls per day of which about 150 are police calls.

The centre has to have access to specialised communications technology which includes:

  • Monitoring of 2,100 HF Health Network Radios
  • 5 Chn UHF Trunking system
  • Provincial VHF radio systems
  • Satellite VPN Network
  • NCD 5.8 GHz Data network
